Description
The BBS Autosyphon is designed for the varied automated flushing requirements of small and large W.C installations. Auto syphons (siphons) are originally known as bell valves due to their shape.
Manufactured in the UK from high quality materials
This product is manufactured in the UK from high quality materials, ensuring that you get a long life from this auto syphon. It’s the most inexpensive, trouble-free and simple to install product on the market. With no electricity/energy supply needed or moving parts it requires virtually no maintenance.
Conforms to BS 1876
BS 1876 is a British Standard of manufacturing, so you can be assured that the product will be of high quality specification, design and build.
WRAS Approved
WRAS stands for Water Regulations Advisory Scheme, a certification mark that demonstrates that an item complies with the high standards set out by water regulations.
Supplied with two rubber washers and a back nut
Providing you with the requirements to get a secure and water tight seal. Do not use a sealing compound or silicone when installing this product.
Each automatic syphon is fully tested before leaving the factory
Each individual auto syphon is fully tested before leaving the factory to ensure that the product is in perfect working order. As the cistern (and therefore syphon) gradually fills with water, it will reach the top of the ‘flushing height’ which creates a vacuum of water and will then automatically be flushed through the syphon outlet and down the downpipe into the urinal bowls. The flushing mechanism will be stopped once the air seal has been broken and the whole process begins again. The amount of automated flushes is dependent on the rate of which the water flows into the cistern. This can be controlled and reduced by a flow restrictor most commonly known as a ‘petcock’.
Easy to install
For new installations you will need to remove any labels from the auto syphon. Then install the ‘automatic’ syphon unit into the cistern, placing one washer over the thread to be positioned on the inside of the cistern shell and then the second washer on the outside, then secure into place using the back nut supplied. (Do not overtighten the back nut). DO NOT USE A SEALING COMPOUND OR SILCONE, the rubber washers provided will provide an adequate seal. Secure cistern at the required height and position (a minimum drop of 1 metre is recommended before any pipework is branched off). Attach pipe work to syphon tail (down pipe should be at least one size smaller than outlet) with suitable connectors, ensuring that there is no backflow or areas where water could ‘well’ within the installation (water should drain to the spreader). To initially ‘charge’ the syphon, turn the water on and ‘fast fill’ the cistern using a suitable ‘adjustable’ flow filling device such as a ‘petcock’ until the automatic syphon discharges. Adjust the water inlet down to a slow fill to suit requirements of the installation – this will set how often the syphon will flush. Please note: flexible hoses should not be used at any point between the syphon and the urinal spreaders as this could cause intermittent problems with flushing.
